Heathrow T5 replaces seven large LED displays with monitored, redundant systems
A Sharp case study documents the replacement of advertising screens at Heathrow Terminal 5. The project combines large-format LED with monitoring, backup signal paths and building safety systems.
- The installation comprises seven displays across five towers.
Seven displays, each approximately 14 × 6.5 metres, occupy five structural towers. Every screen uses 364 modules with a 3.9 mm pixel pitch. Installation was coordinated around continued terminal operation.
Dual players, video paths and independent fibre routes support automatic failover. Ambient-light and temperature controls adjust brightness. Sharp reports roughly 2.6 kW per display at the described operating setting; this is not a maximum-power specification or a result for every content sequence.
